GET YOUR MIND OUTTA THE GUTTER

I don't especially get it - motorcycle riding, that is.
But my son sure loves it.

The verbiage isn't what I typically post,
but it went on his birthday card
and I know he'll enjoy it.

Especially like the "patterned paper"
the image sits on.
It's cigar bands that he sent me years ago.
I knew one day I'd find a use for them!
Interesting that both his first name and middle name
is on two of the bands.

Happy birthday, Donald.
Enjoy this birthday all year long!

My Biker Son

He's a Harley rider and that's why he got this card.
Works for me
and I think it works for him, too.

Happy birthday, big guy!

... and then he was born

On the first day of Spring,
Donald joined the family.
It wasn't the name we chose.
But somehow (thanks, Daddy!) that became his name.

He went from playing with Hot Wheels
to riding even hotter wheels.

Have a great ride, my son.
Just be careful!

Happy birthday.

Can it be that long ago?

Yes - it has been.
It's 47 years ago today.
The eve of my second child's birth.

I didn't look very happy here.
But I was extremely happy.
Just not very comfortable!
This child needed to be born!

Happy birth day eve, Donald!

It's been 24 years ...

WHERE has the time gone?

I remember it like it was yesterday.
My son married the love of his life.
And I welcomed her!

Congratulations Donald and Dawn.

Here's hoping to many more years of honeymooning!

White Car Grey Car

For the life of me,
I cannot remember.
Did it start out as a white car
or a grey car?

I'm quite sure white.
And then it was loved so much,
the white peeled off, leaving part of the primer showing.

My son loved his Hot Wheel cars.
But this particular one was his favorite!!!!!

If he was separated from it, he would cry "white car."
(Or was it "grey car?")
Either way, you get the idea.

It was like his security blanket.
It went everywhere with him.
And God forbid if it was left behind.
I vividly remember driving back to my parents' home to retrieve it ... late at night.

When I saw this image, I knew it was absolutely perfect
for his birthday card.

Happy birthday, my son!

Happy Labor Day (to me!)

... and happy birthday to my son.

He was born on the first day of Spring.
The day of coming into existence.
A starting point.

My life has never been the same since.
Looking back over the years,
I can honestly say he was (and still is) a good son.

Best part?
He's got the best sense of humor of anybody I've ever met.
He can make a rock laugh!

My son.
He loves bacon more than life itself.

Thought this card would be perfect!

Happy day, Donald!
