The latest from here ...

These two Mother's Day cards were delivered last night.
Okay, I'm going to be honest here ... these were tough to let go.
I love them both for different reasons.
Which one is your favorite?  And WHY?

Here's another one for a special mamma.

This next card was created for a friend to give to her niece
that has colorectal cancer.  So sad.  So very sad ... she's only 30 years old!
Sometimes life's just not fair.

I spent this morning ironing - then packing.
First the clothes.
Then the toiletries.
And then the crafting supplies.
Leaving in the morning.
Heading to Whitworth Ranch Retreat.
Sooooooooo excited to be invited to be a part of this!!!!!!

The theme for this event is Downton Abbey.
Two instructors will be there and they have some great projects for us to work on.
Saturday's garden luncheon will be high tea.
Saturday evening we will be dancing around the pool.
Sunday it will be all over - and we'll be tired.
I'm fixin' to become real fluent in Mmmmmm!!!
Stacy is the best chef ever.

Hold down the fort, okay?
Will check in next week after a long nap!

Mother's Day

I just have to put this out there.
I've spoken with several women the past few weeks
about Mother's Day.

It just blows my mind how many women do not have
any kind of relationship with their mothers.
What????????
I would do absolutely anything in the entire world
just to have my mother here on earth.
Anything.

I know.  I know.
Things happen.
Word are said.
Feelings are hurt.

But for God's sake ... SHE IS YOUR MOTHER!!!!!!!!!
She brought you into this world.
She cared for you.
She raised you.
She loved you.
And she still loves you.
And she would love to raise you still.
Maybe even do things differently.

Pick up the telephone and reconnect with the woman
that gave you all she had.

Chances are,
the reason for the disconnect isn't something that happened during your youth.
It probably happened when you were an adult.
Get over it.

She's not going to live forever.
When she is gone, she is gone.
There won't be any do-overs.
None.
Patch it up.
Fix it.
Reach out.
Reconnect.
Stop being so stubborn.
You know you love her!!!

You don't even have to wait until Mother's Day.
Today is the perfect day.
Make that woman that gave you life the happiest woman ever.
Don't do it for me.
Do it for yourself.
Do it for her.

She loves you still ...

Somebody just couldn't wait!!!!!

My childhood friend asked me to make a Mother's Day card.
This time she wanted "something different" ...
She asked if I had any photos of when we were growing up.

I searched and came up with a few.
This is the one that she chose.
Connie is on the left, her sister Paula is on the right.
And guess who's in the middle!?!
You got it - it's ME!!!!!

The reason for the Marvin Gardens deed, you ask!?!
Connie and I used to play that game.
Marathon style.
Because we could never finish it in just one play date,
we'd slide the board under the couch until next time.

She was so excited for her mom to see it,
she couldn't even wait until Mother's Day.
How fun is that?

Happy Mother's Day, Leta!!!!!

I'm taking a break

A break from making cards,
not a blog break.

Time to post some of the things I've been working on.
Since I've been mostly creating Mother's Day cards,
here are some.

And a birthday card ...

And a graduation card, too.

Okay - break's over.
Back to work!

Holy Toledo ...

I feel like I should be in trouble
for not turning in my homework on time.

Sheesh! but I've been so busy, teacher.
Okay - let's not waste any more time.
You've probably got places to go.
People to see.
And stuff to do.
So I'm going to just jump in and get after it.

My sweet friend, Kay, celebrated her birthday last week.
EIGHTY YEARS OLD!!!!!!
You'd never in a gazillion years even guess it though.
These cards are from her daughter and her husband.

This card went to West Virginia.
Happy birthday (yesterday) to Maria.

Today, Peggy celebrates a birthday.
Enjoy your day!
She loves all things patriotic so this works perfect.
Peggy's other favorite is a dragonfly.
She'll receive this on Mother's Day.

Today my friend, Shawna, is celebrating a birthday.
Enjoy the festivities.

One more birthday card.
This one was fun to create - lots and lots of layers.

Somebody is having a baby boy
and this is for the baby shower.

Deborah and I met for dinner the other night.
And then I handed over 43 white satin roses I rolled
for her daughter's wedding bouquet.
I can't wait to see the magic Deborah creates as she puts it all together.

And the big news?
Yesterday, The Runner competed in the NTAPT
(North Texas Association for Pupil Transport)
Regional Bus Road-eo competition.
He drove a bus for the Special Needs children.
And TOOK FIRST PLACE!
Guess who's going to State Competition?

Now THAT is a happy person.
Number ONE!

And last, but certainly not least ...
If you've not been to my other blog recently, you might want to.
You can read all about a contest going on at Whitworth Ranch Retreat,
the upcoming scrapbook convention
and get to meet a new friend.
Shannon Martinson is the latest Featured Guest.
Susan Hahaj is in the wings - you won't want to miss meeting her either.

I promise not to stay away so long.
Wait.
I will promise to TRY to not to stay away for so long.

Whoa ... I have so much to tell you so let's get started!

Yikkes ... it feels like it's been ages since I've been here
other than to post a card here and there.

I've been busy, busy, busy.
First of all, I'm so happy to announce
that our e-mail account has been restored.
Not sure if you all know this or not but ...
I somehow deleted the entire e-mail account.

Poof.  Gone.
And with it, all of my folders.
The account is back but the folders and contents are not.
I can't even tell you how much stuff is gone.

In keeping with my 15 for 2015
here is a thank you card sent to a blog friend.
Sandi lives in Michigan
but one day I swore I saw her walk through the door
at Joann's here in Texas.
Girl, you have a look alike!
This image reminded me of her decorating style so much.
Go ahead and check it out - I think you'll like what you see.
The reason for a thank you card?
She sent me some sweet felt hand warmers
(photo from her blog.)

You know when you say to somebody "let's get together?"
The intentions are there and you really do want to get together.
But you know - life gets in the way.
When I met Donna for the first time in February at the retreat,
she told me that her son lives not far from me.
(Donna lives in Stephenville, which is about a 90 minute drive from here.)
I immediately told her to call me when she next visits him.

Well, what a pleasant surprise when she called me!!!
She's in town and did I want to go to lunch?
Well, yeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.
What a nice day I had yesterday.
Thank you, Donna for calling me.
Now, are you sure you don't want to move here?

Thursday evenings have me at the fire stations.
I just love love love being a part of each new class
that's going through the academy.
It doesn't matter how many times I sit through each session.
I. keep. learning.
Thank you, Euless Fire Department
for allowing and encouraging alumni to sit in on the classes.
Tomorrow I'll be at the local wrecker company
watching the new students demolish a car.
THAT was my favorite class.

My daughter's friend recently married
and this card went to the happy couple.

A friend asked me to make a card for her friend that's battling breast cancer.
She wanted something pink and cheery.
The outside of the card isn't pink, but those pink flowers should cheer her up.

One more card for that same friend.
I think it would be perfect to send as a thank you note
to somebody that invited her to dinner!

My sweet friend, Marie, lost her father a couple of weeks ago.
This card went to her.

Yesterday, my 'little' Pen Pal turned sweet 16.
(She's been taller than me for about the past six years!)
I suppose now she wants to trade the bicycle in for a car.

This card was created for a friend
and she will send it to her aunt that's battling cancer.

See?
I haven't been loafing.  I'm cranking out cards left and right.
I've done wedding anniversary cards.
And baby shower cards.
And thank you cards.
And birthday cards.
And high school graduation cards.
And Mother's Day cards.

The Mother's Day cards have really been keeping me busy.
I still have many to share, but won't be able to until May 10.
One of the recipients won't be visiting this blog,
so it's safe to post this one now.

The image on this card is perfect.
It's going to be given to Lucy Scott!

I can't forget the tags.
The birds will be tied around the tissue paper
that'll be wrapped around the Beachcomber Nests.
The square tags will be tied directly onto the nests.
If you haven't done so already,
you might want to pop on over to Vicki's blog
and take a peek at all the beautiful nests
and vacation pictures.

Oh - and I've been checking with the freight company every few days.
Everything is still on schedule
and is expected to arrive in Mombasa on April 29.
Of course, more time for ground delivery has to be factored in
before they are delivered.

I keep in touch with Josephine on a regular basis
and she tells me the children are giddy with excitement.

You know those smiling faces will greet you right here
as soon as the boxes arrive.

That about wraps it up for now.
Thanks so much for your patience
and for following along with all of my creative endeavors.
