A Birthday and a National Holiday

I'm thinking it would be fun to share your day with Halloween.
Happy birthday to Molly's mamma.
I'm sure your daughter will spoil you - you deserve it!
Four little goblins will receive their Halloween card.
This one is for a three year old little boy.

This one is for Delilah.

This one is for a year and a half old little girl.

A 12 year old young lady will receive this one.

Enjoy your day Trick or Treating!

Tomorrow is Halloween

Two little girls will be dressing up.
Will they be a ballerina?
A princess?
A witch?
Or maybe a pumpkin ...
Whatever their costume, I'm sure they'll be great.

Adults celebrate, too.
And sometimes they don a costume as well.

Oh my ... just look at these witches.

How would you like to answer the door to find this dashing couple?

Be safe tomorrow.

James and Carey sittin' in a tree

First comes love,
then comes marriage.
28 years ago today they married!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy anniversary!

Sunday, October 25, 2015

We received bad news on October 11.
Our brother-in-law, Dr. Jose Espinosa, lost his life to cancer.

He certainly will be missed by his wife, his nine children,
his family, his co-workers and all that knew him.

Birthdays and Anniversary

I just love it when people anticipate special events.
These four cards won't be given until next year!!!
Time marches on.
This couple will celebrate another anniversary.
(See the pearl heart?)
And for her birthday ...

The next two are for the daughters' birthdays.

Enjoy your celebrations, ladies!

Another "back in the day" photo

There's just something about old photographs
that make me giddy.
And this one is no different.
They take me back ... right back to looking through shoeboxes of photos
that were taken with old cameras.
I'm sure this wasn't a taken with "colored" film - rather an oil colored picture.
Somebody will get this card.
Maybe on their birthday because of the "PARTY" tag.

I'm sure you've asked yourself this questions:
"When do you know when you've added enough embellishments?"
Well, I say: "There's always room for one more item!"
It could be a tag, a flower, a leaf, a little ink around the edges.
There's always room for one more thing.
It's all about the details!

Trick or Treat

My friend, Christy, LOVES Halloween.
So much so that she has a Halloween tree in her home.
Only fitting that she chose these cards, right?
Halloween doesn't have to be all spooky and scary.
Just look at the softness of this image.
Look deep into the face of this skull.
Do you see what I see?

25 Years of Marital Bliss

Our dear friends celebrate today.
We hope you have the best day!
This couple doesn't look anything like them,
but I just could resist putting the image on their card from us.
This card will make Carol laugh, I just know it.
Look closely at the picture of this woman's ankles.

I just couldn't resist putting this on the inside.
PS - it was my idea, not Paul's!!!!!
Happy anniversary, you two.
Wish we could celebrate over dinner with you.

Yes - it's Yesi's birthday today

She loves animals.
So much so, that she wants to be a veterinarian.
Therefore, it's only fitting that there's a sweetheart of a puppy on her card.

Oh - and Yesi IS a sweetheart
through and through.
Happy birthday, my little friend!

Know what today is???????????

It's National Boss Day!
Did you recognize your boss?

While I'm thinking about it,
I think I'll go show some love to The Runner.
(Not that he's my boss or anything ...)

Happy Halloween - all the way to Arizona

Peyton will receive a sweet little card
on Halloween morning.
Enjoy, sweetie!
I'm still making Halloween cards.
Maybe next week you'll get to see some more.
In the meantime ... Trick or Treat today - you get more candy that way!

Happy Halloween and Happy Thanksgiving

Not a favorite holiday of mine
but I've noticed that a lot of people must love it.
I've been to Michael's lately and there are just so many Halloween products
in all of the aisles.
Kinda makes me change my mind a little bit.

I used this same image in a card last year and loved it so much,
I had to use it again.  This time I added the broom.

Perfect for a boy.
Lots going on here.

Look closely at the skull face.
Do you see what I see?

 This card cracks me up.
Works for a masculine or a feminine card.

This one could be used as a Halloween card
or a Thanksgiving card.

Who wouldn't want to send this to somebody?
There are lots of reasons to say "thank you" ...
Have YOU said thank you this year?

Thanksgiving is Pilgrims.
Boys ...

and girls, too.

I've still got more for each holiday on the playground table.
Stay posted.

Sixth Annual Spaghetti Dinner

The Euless Citizen Fire Academy Alumni Association
thought it would be great to give back to our guys (and girl)
that give so much of themselves on a daily basis.
We've been cooking dinner for them for six years
(with plans for next year already) and last night was the night!
My friend and fellow-alumni, Betty Priddy,
arrived at the station at 11:30.
Shortly thereafter, Lori Johnston arrived.
Once the sauce was simmering,
the meatball rolling and frying process began.
We lost count, but I do know that 20 POUNDS of meat was used.
I'm suspecting 300+ meatballs.

As we cooked, it was nice having our firefighters
in the kitchen keeping us company and entertaining us.
Especially the entertaining part.
I'm not sure who's the funniest: Kenny? or Adam? or Jeff?
Together they are crazy.

Shawn may be quiet, but he can cut up like the rest of them.
The guys also helped!
They set up the tables and chairs.
They lifted big heavy pots.
They made the iced tea.
And they Kenny sampled.

By the way - who wouldn't love to have a pantry like that!?!
Once all the on-shift station guys arrived from all three stations,
and once the alumni got there with all of their food contributions,
we sat down and broke bread together as one happy family.

Scott, Chance and Jerri ... you are really serious, aren't you?
No time for talking when it's time to eat.
Thanks, Jerri Keller, for the garlic knots - sure glad I snagged one for myself.

Barney Snitz, Ann Marie's cookies were the best - as always.
Please thank her for us.

Awwwww, come on Betty.
No scowling ... the hard part is finished.

Our treasurer, Dave Shanahan, digs in.
Jean Nuber and Peggy Vandiver enjoying the food and the conversation.

Thank you for joining us, Division Chief Paul Smith!
Alumni, Barb Niziolek.

Mother, Shirley Daily and daughter, Sherri Browning.
Great desserts, ladies.

Adam - "eating healthy" ...

Now what'd I say about entertainment?

Jeremy, George and Adam.

Chris and Saul.

It's okay that you took my seat, Brandon.

Jeremy and Lori Tompkins.
Kristy Wynne and Joyce Maxwell.

Kathy Ames, Linda Eilenfeldtand Shawna DePuente.

Anniece McKanna, Scott and Barney.

This was one of my highlights of the night.
We cooked and the firefighters cleaned up.
I'm sure we made a mess of the stove,
but those guys took it all apart and got after it.
Thanks Brandon and Kenny!

Rookies always get the grunt work.
Andrew scrubbed those pots and pans.
And scrubbed.
And scrubbed.
What a guy!

See that mop leaning against the wall?
Once the guys danced with it,
the wet mop came out.

Rob has a happy face.
Not just from having a full belly, but from successfully completing
the Firefighter II promotional process today
along with Toby and Michael.
Congratulations, guys!

All of the tables and chairs in the day room have been taken down
and loaded in the vehicles to return.
Yep - I ate, too!!!
Kudos ...
To Joe Forgione for handing down his recipe and the large sauce pot.
We missed you!
To The Runner for shopping and delivering all of the ingredients.
To Betty Priddy and Lori Johnston for helping me cook.
To Chief Morris for arranging for the tables and chairs to magically appear.
To all of the firefighters that helped in their many ways.
To the alumni that brought salads, bread and desserts.
We couldn't have done it without you!!!!!
See you next year, God willing.
